20 Aug 2010 - According to Fung Shui beliefs Water has often a deeper meaning. In the body, water represents the bladder and kidneys. When there is an excess of water energy in a person's body, they may suffer from problems with the prostate, kidney stones, high blood pressure, dizziness or vertigo. People who suffer from a deficiency of water energy may develop dark circles under their eyes, a sign of weak kidneys. They may also suffer from cold hands and feet, and lower back pain. People in this condition may also lack motivation and have a tendency to procrastinate that may develop into depression. Water features should not be placed in the bedroom, but in the living or dining room. One could consider using a wood element to bring balance in the home, as water produces wood. The metal element can be used to increase the water energy.

Holy Water

7 July 2010 - A South Korean medical professor who invented a digital device he claimed could turn tap water into holy water is facing fraud charges. Seoul police explained that the professor said to have digitally captured the curative powers of the holy water on devices that he sold to more than 5,000 people for more than HKD 10 million profit. That's a lot of money! The 53-years old professor said he had obtained holy water from the shrine of the Holy Mary in Lourdes, the famous pilgrimage site in France. He also said he was also able to digitally transfer those healing powers onto ceramic and paper filters and plastic cards. Anyway, I do believe a bottle of the professor's holy water is cheaper than a return-ticket Seoul - Lourdes, but how is it possible that 5,000+ persons went for it? The professor must be a marketing genius.

14h15 Toilet Time

20 June 2010 - Yesterday, at 14h15 (CET) the water companies in Holland had to manage a sudden but to-be-foreseen peak in the consumption of water. It was half time in the Holland - Japan football match in Durban, and water consumption increased with about 70% within a few seconds. People went to the toilet, made some tea or coffee, or washed their hands. Telephone companies also reported steep fluctuations during the match - after every goal there was an enormous increase in text messages and calls. Before the match the supermarkets made extra hours. Before the Holland - Denmark match the supermarkets had an increase in turnover of EUR 17 million, mainly because of hyper chips, beer and coca-cola sales. Holland won ..., so the bars, cafes and pubs had a very profitable Saturday afternoon, if not evening. Football is big business, and we are all consumers.
