3 June 2010 - I have started to read an interesting book by journalist Joris Luyendijk (it is in Dutch - so I will save you the title), which starts with the following quote by Leonard Cohen "
There's a war between the ones who say there's a war and the ones who say there isn't". I wonder what he had in mind when he wrote that.

actually, dear readers of this blog, this book of mine just came in the UK, and it is called Hello Everybody, profile press.
What I had in mind with that motto from Leonard Cohen is that the only consensus is that there is no consensus. About anything. Journalists then have to settle on one version of reality, which they go on to present as Reality. The book described how this process works with Middle East reporting, but it applies to all media representation.
Thanks Joris - I am enjoying the book. But "hello Everybody" as the translation of "Het zijn net mensen"? I will give the book to some of my friends in Hong Kong. Cheers.
