British Politics
10 May 2010 - I think there was too much attention for the British elections on BBC World, but now I feel the need to also comment. It was interesting that Britain's general election failed to produce an outright winner, leaving the door open for Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg to form a coalition with the Conservatives or the Labor Party. Clegg said that the Tories deserved the first go at forming a new administration. Tory leader Cameron appealed to him for support and Gordon Brown stood ready to talk with the LibDems. With the pound falling sharply and stocks and British bonds tumbling on fears of a delay in fixing a big budget deficit, there is pressure for a quick resolution. It is going to be a nervous week.
